GO OLIVITECH is organizing a demonstration workshop on aerobiological monitoring and prediction of olive diseases
Description
On May 19, 2026 , the municipality of La Puebla de Cazalla (Seville) will host the demonstration workshop of the OLIVITECH Operational Group, a day focused on the application of advanced technological solutions for the optimization of olive grove management.
Under the title “Optimization of Olive Growing through Technological and Aerobiological Analysis” , the meeting will be held from 11:00 to 12:30 and will focus on innovative tools to improve decision-making in plant health, with special attention to the monitoring of pollen and spores and the development of predictive models of diseases.
During the session, attendees will be able to learn firsthand how aerobiological samplers work, key devices for anticipating phytosanitary risks and optimizing the use of treatments, thus contributing to a more sustainable and efficient agriculture.
Innovation for a more sustainable olive grove
The OLIVITECH project arose in response to the difficulty of predicting olive diseases such as olive leaf spot, olive pollen, and anthracnose, whose treatments pose significant environmental and economic challenges. In this context, the initiative is working on developing a tool that integrates data on the crop, climate, and pathogens to estimate the risk of infection and reduce the number of pesticide applications , thereby improving the sustainability and competitiveness of the sector.
A technical program with a practical focus
The workshop will feature experts from the fields of innovation, research, and business, addressing key issues such as:
- Optimizing the use of plant protection products
- The phenological evolution of olive groves in the context of climate change
- Disease prediction models
- Practical demonstration of aerobiological monitoring systems
The event is aimed at farmers, cooperatives, advisors, technology companies, research centers, administrations and interested public , promoting the exchange of knowledge between the different actors of AKIS.
Registration and financing
Access to the workshop is free, although capacity is limited , so it is necessary to register before May 15th .
The OLIVITECH project is being developed within the framework of the CAP Strategic Plan 2023-2027 , with funding from the EAFRD (80%) and the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (20%) , and has a total budget exceeding 550,000 euros.
