Contextual description
From La Rioja, the expansion of the scientific and technical capacity of the Haro Oenological Station (EEH) laboratories will be launched to improve quality control, safety, and traceability of wines. The EEH is a public laboratory. Its main activity is providing advanced analytical services and supporting R&D&I for the wine sector. The center advises, trains, and supports R&D&I for the entire wine sector, both regionally and nationally. The EEH is considered a key center for knowledge transfer to the business sector.
Results
Work has been done to improve the quality control, safety, and traceability of the wines. To this end, various scientific equipment has been acquired, including a spectrophotometer, tartaric stability analyzer, ovens, and a BCU (Bacterial Curing Unit). Additionally, as part of the building renovations, the laboratories have been refurbished and new laboratory furniture purchased. Furthermore, additional research staff, including an oenologist, have been hired. All of these actions contribute to improved results in terms of quality and food safety.
