MACROALGAE Operational Group: Valorization of functional compounds from native macroalgae of Andalusia for agricultural applications

  • Type Operational group
  • Status In progress
  • Execution 2023 -2025
  • Assigned Budget 299.858,06 €
  • Scope Autonómico
  • Autonomous community Andalucía

Objectives

To revalue two macroalgae produced in Andalusia, extracting their bioactive compounds and developing bioinputs with biostimulant and/or biocidal effects for agricultural applications. To achieve this objective, we propose the application of GRAS solvent extraction technology (ethanol and water) as a sustainable, low-cost, and reproducible alternative for revaluing the bioactive compound fraction of macroalgae for the development of bioinputs.
