This project will define an innovative traceability system based on Blockchain and a NIRS sensor system to verify the legality and efficiency of industrial hemp cultivation, for which a model will be developed to calculate emissions and verify the absorbed carbon, as well as an application that will collect crucial data from sensors and other information resources. A Blockchain platform and an app for customers will also be programmed to optimize cultivation and CO2 capture.
The application of this technology will open new market opportunities by certifying the sustainability and quality of hemp products, attracting consumers and companies interested in ecological and sustainable practices.
The project will develop a pilot focused on seed production and traceability of hemp-derived products, and will investigate the development of molecular markers to optimize cultivation and that may be key in the capture and fixation of CO2. This will provide useful tools for producers, authorities and actors in the supply chain.
The definition of the traceability system will allow farmers to benefit greatly from this system that will guarantee traceability and regulatory compliance, optimize cultivation and improve efficiency in CO2 capture. Implementing these solutions can increase productivity and reduce costs associated with regulatory compliance. The application of this technology will also open new market opportunities by certifying the sustainability and quality of hemp products, attracting consumers and companies interested in ecological and sustainable practices.
The project seeks to apply innovative solutions for the traceability of industrial hemp from the purchase of seeds to their transport, ensuring legality and compliance with regulations through Blockchain. Therefore, the general objective of the project is to contribute to the development of the industrial hemp sector by generating opportunities to improve the flow and management of product information throughout the production and transport phase through Blockchain.
The expected results are:
- Define the needs and requirements of the future traceability system using Blockchain and the NIRS verification sensor and analysis system.
- Create a model for calculating emissions and verifying the carbon absorbed by the specific crop of each hemp farm.
- Develop an application for collecting data from sensors, NIRS and other information resources useful for traceability.
- Program and implement the Blockchain platform and the app for the client.
- Develop and validate aquaporin markers.
- Promote and disseminate the results of the project.
