Description
The proposed Innovation Project aims to develop a methodology and a series of tools to improve the profitability of cattle farms in the Principality of Asturias by generating added value in suckling calves that will not be reared on the farms themselves.
To this end, the project proposes optimizing management protocols on the farms of origin, transferring them to a specialized center where disease incidence is monitored, and nutritional and health management is supervised by a team of professionals using innovative techniques for early diagnosis and monitoring development and health status.
This would ensure that sales to fattening farms are made once the animals have reached the development and health standards required by the market.
Objectives
- To enhance the value of calves produced on dairy farms for feedlots, reducing the consumption of animal health products, improving animal welfare, and creating an attractive product for calf-fattening companies.
