GESVIÑA Operational Group: For sustainable management of the Atlantic vineyard

Atlantic vineyards share common problems:

1. smallholding;
2. High rainfall and mild temperatures, which influence the need to increase phytosanitary treatments, especially fungicides;
3. rugged orography that favors erosion;
4. Excessive dependence on the use of copper, especially in ecological models, with problems of use limitations and soil contamination;
5. winegrowers with a high average age, with greater difficulty in applying new sustainable control techniques;
6. In general, the conditions of Atlantic wine-growing farms make it more difficult to adopt the changes required by increasingly restrictive legislation on the use of phytosanitary products.
