Description
The project aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the agri-food sector by calculating its carbon footprint and improving its competitiveness through the use of eco-labels.
Description of activities
- Survey of producers and associations on carbon footprint and eco-labeling.
- Analysis of inventory methodologies and calculation of the carbon footprint of organizations and products. -Review of projects carried out in Spain regarding carbon footprint inventories of agricultural holdings.
- Review of consumer expectations regarding agricultural food products and their response to different types of labeling.
- Qualitative opinion analysis using a focus group with real consumers.
- Information sessions in each province on carbon footprints and eco-labels.
- Contact with other operational groups and other project outreach activities.
Objectives
- Reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the agri-food sector and increase the competitiveness of its products through the use of Carbon Footprint Ecolabels.
- Raise awareness among producers and distributors about the need to reduce their carbon footprint and the benefits it offers.
- Train producers and technicians in techniques to calculate and reduce their carbon footprint.
- To understand consumer purchasing preferences, as well as their perceptions and responses to carbon footprint labeling. d) To improve the image and competitiveness of products through the use of eco-labels and to disseminate project results to potential beneficiaries.
