Description

Agrocomposting is an alternative for organic operators to improve their income and improve the marketing of their products.

This Operational Group aims to ensure the provision of urban biowaste collection and/or treatment services, reducing fertilizer expenditures and GHG emissions, and reaching out to the end consumer through short-circuit sales.

Objectives

The search for additional income for small farms and the need to provide a circular economy solution for municipal organic waste, closing carbon cycles in a more economically and climate-efficient way.
Analyze, validate, and scale the possibility of agrocomposting for farm owners as a source of supplementary income.
Generate specific and operational territorial hubs for the development of agrocomposting in different Autonomous Communities, identifying and mediating between supply and demand.
Validate and transfer experience to waste management, rural development, and climate change policies, as well as support for the organic sector.

Results

Case analysis reports, and the impact in terms of agricultural income and expenses and investments for farm owners.
Having generated the definition of agrocomposting development centers and regulatory proposals in 5 autonomous communities.
Having transferred experience to waste and rural development plans, and to the development of circular economy regulations for organic matter.
