Description

To enhance chickpea cultivation in Spain by providing solutions to the main problems (diseases, weeds) through the use of monitoring technologies, biostimulants, and by comparing the yield of registered varieties.

Objectives
  • Effectively integrating the combined use of sensor networks and remote sensing into a platform for monitoring chickpea crops
  • Promote and implement the cultivation of different improved varieties to achieve a better presence in national markets
  • Improve the management of inputs in the chickpea agricultural activity (water, fertilizers, biostimulants or phytosanitary products) for the different varieties of certified seed chickpeas
  • Facilitate the adoption of new technologies by farmers through a transfer plan and by integrating farmers into the different stages of the project.
Results
  • Development of multiparameter sensor devices and remote sensing techniques for crop identification and disease detection, integrating everything into a database and allowing data from sensors installed on the farmer's plot to be accessible through a mobile phone application.
  • Development of a new chickpea variety that improves crop quality and management compared to the variety marketed by S. Coop, Mad, La Garbancera Madrileña
  • Improves the vegetative development of the plant, strengthening its resistance to diseases and pests through the use of different biostimulant products.
  • Teaching courses throughout the project, as well as articles and dissemination at specialized conferences
