The third co-financed call for proposals from the European Association AGROECOLOGY closes on February 18th.
Description
The European association AGROECOLOGY has officially opened the 3rd co-financed call for research and innovation projects , under the motto "Promoting plant and animal genetic diversity and empowering farmers to accelerate the agroecological transition" .
This call focuses on two key pillars of the agroecological transition : the genetic dimension and the social dimension , funding R&D&I projects that contribute significantly to one of the following areas:
- Topic 1. Improvement of the genetic diversity and variability of crops and livestock, with the aim of increasing the availability of species, varieties and breeds that support the development of agroecological farming systems.
- Topic 2. Strengthening the participation and empowerment of farmers in the agroecological transition, addressing aspects such as motivation, capacities, knowledge and the role of the different actors in driving this change.
Expected impacts
The selected projects must contribute to:
- To generate practical knowledge, tools and innovations accessible to farmers and the sector, promoting the adoption of agroecological practices at the local, regional and national levels.
- Increase the knowledge, transfer and capabilities of farmers and agricultural advisors.
- Improve the socio-economic and/or environmental performance of agroecological approaches.
- Strengthening science-policy interfaces , facilitating a faster transition to agroecology.
Calendar and submission procedure
The call for applications is structured through a two-phase procedure :
- Deadline for preliminary proposals: February 18, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. (CET)
- Deadline for full proposals: July 8, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. (CET)
Only entities whose preliminary proposals are selected will receive an invitation to submit a full proposal. Applications not submitted by the deadline or through the official platform will be rejected.
Currently, the call has funding from 27 funding bodies from 19 countries , which make up the Association's Funder Board .
