Participation in the Thematic Group on Improving Water Resilience in Rural Areas through the CAP
Description
The Thematic Group (WG) on Enhancing Water Resilience in Rural Areas through the CAP offers the opportunity to be part of a committed group of experts and relevant stakeholders who will examine how to fully exploit the potential of the CAP to enhance water resilience in rural areas and promote more systemic transformative changes in water and soil management, enabling rural areas to better withstand extreme climate events.
Objectives of the GT
- Identify the most beneficial actions and approaches to improve water resilience and explore the range of CAP interventions that could be used, as well as the possibilities for scaling up and incentivizing their adoption through improved design and implementation of CAP schemes.
- Examine the role of the supporting environment (e.g., knowledge sharing, promotion of innovative solutions, and advisory services) and how it can be better leveraged to enhance the uptake of relevant CAP measures to achieve greater water resilience.
- Identify and share examples of best practices and case studies on improving water resilience in rural areas that Member States can share and potentially replicate.
If you're interested in joining the GT, please fill out the registration form by clicking here before August 12.
The selected participants in the Working Group , which include regional and national policymakers and administrators, beneficiaries, agricultural and forestry organizations, Local Action Groups, advisors, researchers, national CAP networks, and other relevant rural and environmental stakeholders, will commit to two meetings ; the first will be held online on 18 September 2025 , and the second will be held in person on 6 November 2025. These meetings are free of charge and will be held in English without interpretation.
