MAPA supports innovation for sustainability in the agri-food sector with intense participation in ExpoAgriTech 2025.

From October 28th to 30th, Malaga will become the epicenter of agricultural innovation with the celebration of ExpoAgriTech 2025 – “The Agricultural Fair 4.0” , an event that will bring together more than 8,000 professionals from the sector around the latest technological trends that are transforming agriculture towards a more digital, sustainable and competitive model.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPA) will have a prominent presence at this edition, reaffirming its commitment to modernization, generational renewal, and the digitalization of the Spanish countryside. The fair, held at the Malaga Trade Fair and Congress Center (FYCMA), will feature a full program of presentations, demonstrations, forums, and networking spaces, with the MAPA taking center stage through the participation of several of its executives and the presence of La Vega Innova (LVI) , its agri-food innovation and entrepreneurship hub.

MAPA's institutional presence at ExpoAgriTech 2025

The Secretary of State for Agriculture and Food, María Begoña García Bernal , will participate in the official opening of the event on October 28, accompanied by key national and regional authorities. During her visit, she will tour the exhibition spaces dedicated to digitalization and innovation in rural areas, where she will learn firsthand about various projects promoted by startups and operational groups .

On Tuesday, October 29, MAPA's activity will be especially intense at the Agritech 4.0 Congress .
At 10:45 a.m. , Marta Hernández Zapata , from the General Subdirectorate of Rural Development , will participate in the roundtable discussion "How can we help young people who decide to enter the agricultural sector in rural areas?" She will present the guide "On Solid Ground," a Ministry tool that compiles resources and support available to foster generational renewal in the agricultural sector.

That same day, at 11:15 a.m. , Isabel Bombal , Director General of Rural Development, Innovation and Agri-Food Training, will moderate the panel "Innovation and the Future of Agriculture: A Political Vision from the Autonomous Communities," in which regional strategies for addressing the challenges of the future of agri-food will be discussed.

The participation of the La Vega Innova (LVI) iHub will be another of the Ministry's pillars at ExpoAgriTech. This public innovation ecosystem will promote the participation of startups and emerging companies in the AgriFoodTech field. At the Startup Forum , the 4.0 Technology session (from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.) will host the pitch by Agro4Data , an LVI partner startup that will present its solutions for intelligent agricultural data management.

In addition, the Innovation Awards gala will be held on Wednesday the 29th (7:30–9:00 p.m.) , where the most innovative technologies aimed at improving agricultural productivity and sustainability will be recognized. Startups linked to La Vega Innova are eligible for these awards.

On Thursday, October 30 , LVI will be part of the Startup Forum jury , whose awards ceremony will take place from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m., thus completing the Ministry's busy institutional agenda during the three-day fair.

ExpoAgriTech 2025: the great event for Agricultural 4.0

Organized around the motto “The 4.0 Field Fair” , ExpoAgriTech 2025 is the benchmark event in Spain for the agrotechnology ecosystem , where more than 200 exhibiting companies will present their innovations in machinery, biotechnology, digitalization, smart irrigation, regenerative agriculture, biostimulants and biofertilizers .

The event has the institutional support of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development of the Regional Government of Andalusia , through its E-DIH Andalucía Agrotech , and the support of companies and cooperatives such as Cajamar, Covap, Actel, Anecoop and Cooperativa La Palma , in addition to the support of ASAJA within the framework of the Chaleco Agricultor Awards .

Themes and contents of the AgriTech 4.0 Congress

Among the highlights of this edition:

• The revolution of Artificial Intelligence and Data Spaces , applied to yield prediction, fruit classification, and greenhouse climate management.
• Robotics and Machinery 4.0 , with presentations on self-guided tractors, computer vision, and autonomous farming systems.
• Sustainability and Soil Health , with sessions dedicated to regenerative agriculture, carbon markets, and water management during droughts.
• Olive Growing 4.0 , with presentations on olive grove digitalization, smart sensors, and by-product valorization.

The fair will also feature immersive spaces such as Farm 4.0 , the Tech Greenhouse , and Olive Grove 4.0 , where you can experience firsthand the technologies applied to precision cultivation, irrigation, and harvesting.
