Luis Planas highlighted the importance of precision agriculture, research, and technology to improve agri-food efficiency and address climate challenges at Fruit Attraction 2025.

The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Luis Planas , inaugurated the 17th edition of Fruit Attraction today, 30 September, highlighting Spain's role as the leading producer of fruit and vegetables in the EU and the eighth largest in the world , with an annual average of more than 25 million tonnes; and He emphasized the importance of precision agriculture, research, and technology to improve water use efficiency and address climate challenges. "Our farmers use modern, grounded technology that guarantees food for all," he noted.

Planas emphasized that the Spanish sector is an international benchmark for its commitment to sustainability, innovation, and quality , pillars that have consolidated its leadership.

The minister defended the need to maintain specific aid for fruits and vegetables in the future CAP , also recognizing the economic, social, and territorial role of the sector, which represents almost 30% of the value of agricultural production in Spain.

In 2024, the sector reached a production value of more than 18 billion euros and a record trade balance of 13.544 billion , making Spain the second largest exporter in the world in terms of value .

MAPA's presence at Fruit Attraction 2025 is articulated through the Alimentos de España strategy, with the Plaza Alimentos de España (Halls 5 and 6) and the Factoría Chef space (Hall 7). Furthermore, in collaboration with FEPEX and ICEX , an international program has been launched that brings together more than 600 buyers from 20 countries , reinforcing the international reach of the Spanish fruit and vegetable sector.
