Description

The Andalusian Regional Government has inaugurated the new Ronda District Agricultural Office (OCA) , an infrastructure project representing an investment of €1.7 million , largely financed by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD ). The new facility replaces older premises that were insufficient to serve the more than 5,000 farms in the district and is intended to strengthen the front line of support for Andalusian agriculture .

The Agricultural Extension Office (OCA) serves 25 municipalities and over 55,000 inhabitants in a region with a strong agricultural presence, particularly olive groves and extensive livestock farming . The Regional Ministry emphasizes that these offices represent a "field-level" administration, close to the local area and prepared to respond to the real needs of farmers and ranchers, both in routine management and in emergency situations, such as adverse weather events or animal and plant health crises.

One of the highlights of the new office is the significant improvement it brings to the sector's capacity for direct technical support . The team of 17 professionals at the Ronda Agricultural Extension Office (OCA) handles key functions such as managing subsidies , animal and plant health , registering farms , and providing direct technical advice to farmers and livestock breeders, thus consolidating a closer, more agile, and more effective presence of the Administration in the region.

In addition, the new facilities, located in a renovated public building, feature updated public service areas, a training room, universal accessibility and energy efficiency improvements, which also contribute to offering a more modern, functional and sustainable service for the agricultural sector of the region.
