Influence of the use of plant covers on the agronomic performance of an organically grown vineyard

This paper presents the results obtained between 2013 and 2018 in a Pedro Ximénez vineyard grown organically in southern Córdoba. Three soil management treatments were evaluated: traditional tillage (TTT), spontaneous vegetation cover (SVC), and seeded vegetation cover (SVC). The effects of the different treatments on parameters related to grape physiology, yield, and quality were compared.

Hops (Humulus lupulus L.) are a poor crop in Spain, an essential ingredient in beer, and have medicinal and cosmetic applications. Currently, all necessary production is imported, and only about 550 hectares are cultivated in León. Three trials were conducted to determine its viability using a single variety, Nugget, the most common in the north.
