Description

The United Nations has declared 2025 the International Year of Cooperatives under the theme “Cooperatives build a better world.” Women's participation in the agricultural and economic activities of their communities is essential for the survival of rural areas. Cooperatives strive to reach their full potential, creating more competitive and resilient people-centered economies, improving the socioeconomic situation of women, especially young people, fostering the development of local projects, and building more sustainable businesses connected to their communities.
In this context, training women to assume key roles in our organizations, both at the technical level and in decision-making on governing boards, is paramount.

Our Statute for Rural Women of Castilla-La Mancha addresses this need by establishing specific measures to guarantee the effective equality of rural women in Castilla-La Mancha in many aspects, including training and specialization. It promotes awareness-raising and training initiatives on equality across all sectors in rural areas and throughout the agri-food industry. It also establishes the need for specific training programs aimed at rural women, especially those that foster their empowerment and professionalization, such as research, development and technological training in agriculture, access to new information and communication technologies, marketing, food safety, sustainable economic growth, climate change, and renewable energy.

For all these reasons, Cooperativas Agro-alimentarias Castilla-La Mancha has wanted to develop the program of this Forum on the importance of training for women in cooperatives and their skills and specialization to advance towards real equality in the rural world and in the regional agri-food sector.
