UAL TALK: GUCO - Grupo Arco Iris, Cooperative of the Year 2025
This online talk is open to the public, although it is especially aimed at students of the Master's Degree in Agri-Food Cooperative Law.
As part of the online series "Realities and Challenges of the Agri-Food Sector," the Center for Research in Law, Social Economy and Cooperatives (CIDES) of the University of Almería, in collaboration with Agri-Food Cooperatives of Spain, will hold a session entitled " GUCO - Grupo Arco Iris, Cooperative of the Year 2025 " on Thursday, June 12, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. This digital meeting aims to bring the work of the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration in the agri-food sector closer to the public, and especially to students of the Master's Degree in Agri-Food Cooperative Law.
The talk will feature Manuel Esteve, President of Ganadería Unida Comarcal GUCO, S. Coop., part of the Arco Iris Group, based in Valderrobres (Teruel), which has been awarded the Spanish Agri-Food Cooperatives Award for Cooperative of the Year 2025. This cooperative was especially valued by the jury for its comprehensive sustainability model, its constant drive for innovation, and its firm commitment to the circular economy. The Arco Iris Group, GUCO, has successfully diversified its services and activities, consolidating itself as a key driver in more than 155 small municipalities, 80 of them in the province of Teruel. The talk will be led by Tomás Rojas , Director of Finance and Institutional Relations for Cooperativas Agro-alimentarias de España, and presented by Nerea Lerchundi, Director of Communications for the same organization.
Reflection and training for the future of the sector
The series of talks seeks to provide a space for reflection on the current challenges and opportunities in the agri-food sector, such as digitalization, regulatory changes, new consumer demands, and cooperative governance models. It is also part of a joint effort between the academic and professional sectors to promote practical and up-to-date knowledge on cooperative matters.
Registration for the talk is free and open to anyone interested in the sector , although it has an academic focus focused on training future professionals in the agri-food cooperative sector.
Master's Degree in Agri-Food Cooperative Law
The Center for Research in Social Economy and Cooperative Enterprise Law (CIDES) of the University of Almería, in collaboration with Agri-Food Cooperatives of Spain and the Chair of Agri-Food Cooperatives, is organizing the Master's Degree in Agri-Food Cooperative Law. The 100% online Master's degree consists of two Specialist courses: Specialist in Corporate, Tax, and Labor Advice for Agri-Food Cooperatives and Specialist in Legal Advice for Agri-Food Cooperatives in their Business Activities. Within the framework of this Master's degree, a series of talks on "Realities and Challenges of the Agri-Food Sector" is being organized, each focusing on a specific topic. These talks are specifically aimed at students of both Master's programs, but are also open to the general public interested in the topics covered.
