On July 8, 2025 , the Cajamar Foundation will hold the launch of its traditional Observatory of the Spanish Agri-Food Sector in the European Context in Madrid , which is now in its eighth edition . The event will take place in person at the Palacete de los Duques de Pastrana (C/ de las Platerías, 2, Chamartín) and will be free of charge , subject to registration.

The meeting will offer a rigorous analysis of the main indicators of the Spanish agri-food sector, with special attention to foreign trade , the agri-food economy , productivity , and competitiveness within the European Union. This year's 2024 Report includes a more detailed comparison: in addition to data for the EU-27 , it includes specific analyses with the EU-14 countries and direct comparisons with various Member States.

Among the highlights, the report emphasizes that in 2024 the Spanish agri-food sector strengthened its strategic role in the national economy, representing 8.6% of GDP and generating 11.5% of total employment , figures well above the EU average. Furthermore, the sector's gross added value grew by 3.9% in real terms , confirming its dynamism compared to the European context, where the agri-food sector registered a decline of -2.7% .
