Madrid hosts the Mission Innovation 2025 Conference to promote Spanish participation in major international innovation missions.

On July 9, 2025 , the Center for Energy, Environmental and Technological Research (CIEMAT) will host the Mission Innovation 2025 Conference , a key event to promote Spain's role in major international initiatives aimed at accelerating the energy transition and combating climate change. The event will take place in the CIEMAT Auditorium (Avenida Complutense 40, Madrid), from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
The day will begin with participant registration (9:00-9:30) and the institutional opening session (9:30-10:00), which will feature speakers from Teresa Riesgo , Secretary General for Innovation at the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, and Yolanda Benito , Director General of CIEMAT.
Two round tables will be held throughout the morning:
- Roundtable 1: "Perspectives and evolution of the three missions with Spanish participation" (10:00-10:45), moderated by Félix Barrio . Luis Santos (Green Powered Future Mission), África Castro (Clean Hydrogen Mission), and Jordi Péris (Urban Transition Mission) will provide input.
- Round table 2: “Added value of Mission Innovation: Opportunities for Spanish participation” (11:15-12:15), moderated by María Luisa Castaño , with the participation of Marina Holgado (Spanish Hydrogen Technology Platform), Andrés Llombart (CIRCE Foundation), Margarita de Gregorio (TAG – Technical Advisory Group) and Beatriz García-Monco (Vitoria-Gasteiz City Council).
The day will include a coffee break (10:45-11:15) and, starting at 12:15 , participatory workshops will be held in parallel to discuss how to expand Spanish participation in other missions, strengthen institutional coordination, and improve communication of Mission Innovation's progress in our country.
The meeting will conclude with a closing session (1:45-2:00 p.m.), where the main ideas emerging from the workshops will be presented and the next steps will be defined, led by Ignacio García Fenoll , Deputy Director General of Innovation Policies.
The day will conclude with a networking cocktail party (2:00-3:00 PM), which will provide a space for sharing experiences and creating synergies among attendees.
