Agroecology, innovation and AKIS networks take center stage at the 20th edition of “Conversations on Agroecology”
Description
The 20th edition of the "Conversations on Agroecology" conference , a series of meetings promoted within the framework of the European Association AGROECOLOGY, will be held online on May 27, 2026.
The session, from 1pm to 2pm CET, will bring together actors linked to agroecology, agricultural innovation and AKIS systems to share experiences, strengthen collaboration networks and advance the transition towards more sustainable and resilient agricultural systems.
AGROECOLOGY, the European Association “Accelerating Farming Systems Transition: Agroecology Living Labs and Research Infrastructures”, is a major European research and innovation initiative jointly driven by the European Commission and 26 Member States, Associated Countries and Third Countries.
The aim of this partnership is to support agriculture capable of responding to challenges such as climate change, biodiversity loss, food security and sovereignty, and environmental protection, while ensuring profitable and attractive farms for farmers.
The organization emphasizes that the agroecological transition requires profound changes to make the agricultural sector more sustainable, resilient, and adapted to current social and political demands. In this context, agroecology combines natural and biological interactions with science, technology, and innovation, while also incorporating farmers' practical knowledge.
The “Conversations on Agroecology” seek precisely to strengthen the Knowledge and Innovation Systems in Agriculture (AKIS) related to agroecology, facilitating connections between Living Labs, research infrastructures and other European actors linked to the sector.
The meeting will be held virtually via Zoom and is part of a series of monthly sessions aimed at fostering knowledge exchange and networking among professionals, researchers, advisors and entities across Europe.
Prior registration is mandatory and, after registration, participants will receive the access link to the session.
