SUSTAINABLE NUTRITION OF AGRICULTURAL SOILS WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK OF THE CAP, SUPPORT FOR ADVICE

Modality: Online

Description

The agri-food production system must maintain a balance between profitable, high-quality production that meets consumer demands and sustainable, environmentally responsible production. Fertilization of agricultural systems must be appropriate and sustainable, reducing or even preventing the environmental impact caused by improper management.

Royal Decree 1051/2022, of December 27, establishes the rules for sustainable nutrition in agricultural soils; it is a fundamental tool that regulates the application of fertilizers and organic amendments. The objective of the regulation is to reduce the environmental impact without compromising soil fertility.

The Royal Decree establishes a basic general framework to achieve, by regulating a sustainable supply of nutrients to soils, the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and other pollutants, especially ammonia, the prevention of water pollution, both surface and groundwater, the preservation and improvement of the biological properties of agricultural soils, the prevention of the accumulation of heavy metals and other pollutants in agricultural soils, and the preservation of biodiversity linked to agricultural soils. It also establishes minimum good agronomic practices for its application.

Goals
  • Understanding the framework that governs the sustainable nutrition of agricultural soils and the appropriate agronomic practices for applying fertilizers and amendments is crucial. By knowing the agricultural soils being cultivated, the regulations governing nutrition, and the use of appropriate techniques and tools in decision-making, a suitable fertilization plan can be established more precisely.
  • Expand knowledge regarding sustainable nutrition of agricultural soils and the requirements regarding nutrient management and advice for soil fertilization.
