Demonstration session on artificial intelligence, geomatics, and drones applied to extensive and tree crops
Description
On November 7, 2025 , the University of Seville will hold an in-person demonstration event entitled "Field Practice Based on Artificial Intelligence, Geomatics, and Drone Techniques in Field and Tree Crops." The event will take place at the Pedro Parias Farm in Alcalá del Río, Seville .
Objective of the day
This hands-on activity will allow participants to experiment with advanced artificial intelligence (AI), geomatics, and remote sensing technologies applied to precision agriculture. The goal is to enable participants to design and implement real-world solutions tailored to different types of crops.
Activities and contents
During the day, participants will be able to:
- Build an Arduino- based weed detection system .
- Perform GNSS measurements in the field.
- Program and execute drone flights with PPK GNSS technology, generating high-resolution orthophotos, Digital Elevation Models (DEM) and Terrain Models (DTM).
- Process thermal images in situ for agronomic analysis.
- Implement a citrus fruit gauging system using artificial intelligence .
In addition, an informative video will be recorded about the event to highlight the work of the University of Seville's Competence Center in agri-food digitalization.
Application period open until October 31st.
