Description
With this course you will become familiar with the animal welfare of ruminants (sheep and goats) in livestock facilities, learning their regulations and main operating procedures.
CONTENT:
UNIT 1: WELL-BEING IN SHEEP AND GOATS
- Physiology and sensory perception
- Basic needs: food, water and shelter
- Physical and mental health
UNIT 2: CONDITIONS FOR SHEEP AND GOAT WELFARE
- Protection and well-being: care, accommodation, facilities and equipment
- Farm management / Gestation and calving
- Facilities and equipment.
- Feeders, gates, fences. Milking areas.
UNIT 3: HEALTH
- Health program: symptoms, diseases, treatment
- Biosecurity and regulations
- Occupational Risk Prevention.
- Animal protection and welfare in animal slaughter and slaughter.
