Abstract
The digitalization of agriculture can help improve the production efficiency and sustainability of agroecosystems, as well as advance vertical integration in the food chain based on traceability and transparency. Currently, the adoption of new technologies in agriculture remains below expectations, and there is a specific need to address access to technology for small and medium-sized farms.
Description
The first project tasks have begun. The first coordination meeting was held, where the organization of tasks and the next steps were finalized. Furthermore, a compilation of available information on target crops for the application of precision agriculture techniques and a sector-specific diagnosis of farms interested in and capable of using digital tools were conducted.
Objectives
Promote the use of precision agriculture tools by creating a platform for collaboration and information exchange in extensive crops in the Basque Country. Likewise, we propose practical and demonstrative examples of the integration of already available tools to optimize the application of fertilizers and phytosanitary products and improve irrigation efficiency.
