Especially after the unfortunate health crisis we are still in, the evidence that the nature loss crisis we are facing is also an economic and financial crisis—with short-term and large-scale effects—is clearer than ever.

This has led to growing recognition of the need for the business sector , the primary beneficiary of the resources and services provided by natural ecosystems, to have a sufficient understanding of its relationship with nature and contribute to its protection, maintenance, and enhancement . To this end, it is crucial for companies to better identify, measure, assess, and prioritize their impacts and dependencies on nature; that is, to integrate nature into their decision-making.
