NEWPOWER: Circular innovation to valorize agroforestry waste. NEWPOWER is a European project that responds to one of the major challenges of the SUDOE area: the accumulation of agricultural and forestry waste caused by the abandonment of the rural environment, with serious environmental consequences such as the proliferation of fires.
The project aims to: Create an active transnational collaboration network. Develop waste valorization processes using green technologies. Obtain at least four new products with applications in key sectors. Transfer knowledge and train professionals in the circular economy. Raise public awareness about sustainability and responsible consumption. With a strong territorial and environmental focus, NEWPOWER seeks to revitalize rural areas, promote skilled employment, and advance towards a more resilient, efficient, and low-carbon production model. The future demands it. Join the circular revolution.
Its main objective is to transform this waste into sustainable opportunities through advanced biorefinery processes. Through a collaborative network of research centers, universities, companies, and public entities, NEWPOWER will develop innovative solutions to obtain high value-added products: functional foods, nutraceuticals, bioplastics, biofertilizers, platform chemicals, and renewable energy.
