Organic farming is increasingly popular among European farmers. However, improving the competitiveness of organic farmers requires appropriate knowledge. The OH-FINE project seeks to empower European farmers and smallholders by defining, improving, and transferring knowledge and effective and competitive alternatives in organic farming. The project addresses farmers' capacities, consumer needs, and changes in the evolving food market.
It will establish a pan-European Organic Farming Learning Community (OFC) by developing a comprehensive framework for organic farming knowledge and practices, implementing a multi-agent learning system, and validating the framework through five case study areas across Europe. The project will collect, distribute, and disseminate practical and easily accessible knowledge on organic farming, focusing on cereals, oilseeds, protein crops, and livestock.
A pan-European Organic Farming Learning Community (OFC) will be created, structured around four main technological pillars:
- Develop a multidimensional framework for knowledge and practices of organic farming.
- To establish a multi-agent learning system for organic farming and validate it in five case study areas across Europe.
- To collect, distribute, and disseminate easily accessible practical knowledge focused on organic farming, covering cereals, oilseeds, protein crops, and livestock, among farmers and other stakeholders.
- Develop an ICT tool for decision support systems for farmers.
Oh-FINEs is a 48-month project that aims to empower European farmers and smallholders by defining, improving, and transferring competitive and efficient organic farming knowledge and alternatives that address farmers' capabilities, consumer needs, and evolving food market changes.
To this end, Oh-FINE will create a pan-European Organic Farming Learning Community (OFC) structured around four main technological pillars:
