Description
The project aims to contribute to climate change adaptation and the prevention of maladaptation through information generation, communication, training, and the development of proposed methodologies and actions. This is achieved by involving private property owners, who participate in stewardship projects, manage thousands of hectares of high ecological value in Spain, and generate hundreds of jobs. Their properties and employees may be affected by or vulnerable to the effects of climate change.
Description of activities
- Survey or interview owners and workers of farms totaling more than 50,000 hectares, distributed across various Autonomous Communities, their families, and people with vernacular knowledge of the rural environment.
- Draw conclusions through a systematic analysis of these surveys and/or interviews.
- Select and classify actions that may increase the risk of negative climate-related impacts, increase vulnerability, or lose well-being in the present or future, applicable to the management or conservation of private natural areas.
- Create a self-diagnosis guide for maladaptation to climate change applicable to private farms and/or natural spaces, along with supporting informational materials showcasing success stories. Identify actions/measures that can contribute to adaptation and can be implemented by owners, managers, or workers of private natural spaces.
- Conduct meetings and/or gatherings and/or working groups to exchange information, actions and measures, and/or replicable success stories in adapting to climate change on private farms or natural spaces, and to prevent maladaptation situations or processes.
- Conduct workshops and training courses for trainers on climate change adaptation and maladaptation for key personnel, primarily rural women, associated with private farms and natural areas.
- Dissemination and communication of the project.
