In the call for proposals, European Union countries strengthened their commitment to green energy by including a new target of 32% renewable energy by 2030 (European Parliament, 2018), while the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) focuses on the socioeconomic challenges facing agriculture and rural areas. Specifically, energy efficiency and energy production were (and continue to be) identified as crucial for development and employment in rural areas (European Commission, 2017).
Participants recognized the need to introduce changes to current agricultural vocational training course materials, incorporating renewable energy production into agricultural activities to provide better opportunities for traditional income generation for future agricultural professionals.
Needs met:
- Bridging the green skills gap to address professional needs for sustainable practices.
- Up-to-date and practical knowledge on renewable energy for agriculture. Integration of innovation and entrepreneurship into agricultural vocational training courses. Social, civic, and intercultural skills addressed in agricultural vocational training centers. Dynamic classrooms.
