Biodiversity Foundation Project: Seed

Description

Agriculture and fishing in Spain are strategic sectors of great social, territorial, environmental, and economic importance, but the current growth in energy consumption is having serious negative effects on product competitiveness (costs) and the environment (emissions).

The rational use of energy must be part of all decisions affecting the sector, so it is vitally important to provide sufficient information and support training programs that improve workers' skills and knowledge regarding energy use, improving their employability and fostering sustainable development. These programs will pay special attention to the incorporation of women in this sector (26% of workers) and to promoting awareness of best practices, new technologies, and support mechanisms that facilitate their implementation in such a traditional yet crucial sector in Spain.

Objectives

The project's objective is to train and advise workers in the agricultural and aquaculture sectors to improve their work skills, training, and awareness in resource management, energy efficiency, environmental conservation, and eco-innovation.
