The Global Hub For The Common Good Foundation, with support from the Biodiversity Foundation, is developing the project "New economies and social innovation as a tool for adaptation to climate change."
The project "New economies and social innovation as a tool for adaptation to climate change" compiles information on the so-called "new economies" (circular economy, collaborative economy, social and solidarity economy, common good economy, transition movement, ethical finance, among others) to propose models for transforming eight crucial sectors for climate change: energy, industry, mobility, urban planning, construction, tourism, finance, and consumption.
Guide "The New Economy as a Tool to Address Climate Change in Cities" that could serve as a reference for the transition to a new economy that addresses climate change from within cities. It compiles 45 best practices and 49 specific actions, while also proposing the ideal city chart for the eight prioritized sectors. The study "New Economies and Social Innovation as a Tool for Adaptation to Climate Change in Cities and Other Urban Settlements" addresses questions such as: how new economies are tools for climate change mitigation and adaptation in cities; what a new economy serving people and the planet would look like for the eight prioritized sectors; what best practices are already being implemented in some small, medium-sized, and large municipalities; how these best practices can be replicated in more cities and have a positive impact on climate change mitigation and adaptation; what actions cities can take to begin the transition to a new economic model; and what barriers may be encountered.
