Biodiversity Foundation Project: Promoting rural tourism by harnessing the local resources.

Description

The proposed project will be implemented in the autonomous communities of Madrid, Castilla-La Mancha, Castilla León, Murcia, Andalusia, and the Canary Islands. In Murcia and the Canary Islands, a greater effort is planned in the Mar Menor area, with courses on sustainable agriculture and tourism. The Canary Islands are also considered particularly important due to the recent volcanic eruption and its devastating consequences. The training activities, consisting of 25 courses, cover topics designed to facilitate the structuring of diverse local offerings focused on the regions: environmental monitoring; geology and anthropology monitoring; outdoor spaces: gardening, landscaping, and sustainable materials; environmental management; sustainable agriculture and livestock farming linked to the region; local products; gastronomy and local sales; and mycology. In Castilla y León, it is proposed that the Environmental Interpretation and Education course and the Environmental Management course obtain a professional certificate. The project is supported by the General Foundation of the University of Alcalá.
