Biodiversity Foundation Project: Climate Change Adaptation Platform

Description

A space for exchanging information on the impacts, vulnerability, and adaptation to climate change that facilitates the coordination and transfer of information, knowledge, and experiences among public administrations, the scientific community, planners, managers, and other stakeholders.

The Platform for the Exchange and Consultation of Information on Climate Change Adaptation, AdapteCCa, is a tool for all experts, organizations, institutions, and stakeholders interested in accessing and exchanging information, knowledge, and experiences on the impacts, vulnerability, and adaptation to climate change, as well as a tool for enhancing communication among them.

The AdapteCCa platform for exchanging information on climate change impacts, vulnerability, and adaptation facilitates the coordination and transfer of information, knowledge, and experiences among the various Spanish administrations, as well as among the scientific community, planners and managers, both public and private, and other stakeholders, enabling a multidirectional communication channel between them all.

Contextual description

The National Plan for Adaptation to Climate Change (PNACC) is the general framework for climate change impact assessment, vulnerability assessment, and adaptation activities in our country. AdapteCCa falls under this umbrella, helping to strengthen the structure of the PNACC in its stakeholder mobilization and coordination pillar between administrations. At the European level, the basic reference is the European Adaptation Strategy.

A key pillar of this Community Strategy is the European Adaptation Platform, Climate-Adapt, a European Commission initiative to promote access to and exchange of information on adaptation in sectors where Community policies exist and on Member States' frameworks and initiatives in this field. The national AdapteCCa platform has been designed with full consideration and seeking maximum synergy with the European Climate-Adapt platform. In the design and development of AdapteCCa, the European Commission and the European Environment Agency play an important role in maximizing complementarity between the two platforms.

Objectives

To have a tool for information exchange and communication among all experts, organizations, institutions, and stakeholders active in this field, at all levels.

Results

A tool for all experts, organizations, institutions, and stakeholders interested in accessing and exchanging information, knowledge, and experiences on the impacts, vulnerability, and adaptation to climate change, as well as a means of enhancing communication among them.
