Biodiversity Foundation Project: AGRO-TIC

Description

The project addresses the topic of sustainable agriculture and the circular and green agri-food industry. It also connects with other sectors related to the green and circular economy in agri-food, such as waste reuse, energy and water efficiency, ICT, and tourism.

The agroecosystem of eastern Almería and Murcia is at serious risk due to its significant environmental impact and climate change.

Technological advances allow for the implementation of new production methods that improve the sector's competitiveness and sustainability. However, their rapid advancement is rendering the professional skills of a large number of workers obsolete. AGRO-TIC is a holistic territorial initiative created to implement Local Development Strategies designed to transition toward a Green Economy.

Description of activities

It will act on three levels:

1. Training of 190 people in the use of ICTs applied to the sector.

2. Advising 25 people on the design of professional paths to improve their profile.

3. Identification of technological processes and innovations (existing or to be developed) applicable to jobs that impact the sustainability of the sector and the creation of more technologically advanced, greener, and higher-quality jobs through social innovation.

Objectives

The project's objective is to adapt and improve professional qualifications in the agri-food sector of the Levante region of Almería and Murcia by training them in the use of ICTs that contribute to reducing the agricultural environmental impact and promote the circular and green agro-economy.
