Biodiversity Foundation Project: Adapta Agroecology

Description

The project "Agroecology and Adaptation to Climate Change. "Adapta Agroecologia" Generation and dissemination of agroecological practices that adapt to climate change" is supported by the Biodiversity Foundation through its grant program. Various initiatives have been carried out, involving more than 500 people, including researchers, technicians, and farmers. This initiative of the Spanish Society of Organic Agriculture (SEAE) contributes to the adaptation of agriculture to climate change through agroecological production and marketing practices.

Description of activities

The 26th SEAE Technical Conference on Agroecological Innovation and Climate Change, an international technical conference, provided a forum for discussion and exchange of experiences and research to address the consequences of climate change.

Objectives

With the aim of training technicians and farmers, two short thematic courses were also held for technicians and conventional farmers on agroecological practices for adapting to climate change in Mediterranean and Atlantic climates, as well as five demonstration days with consumers visiting agroecological farms and learning about the climate change adaptive management practices used there.

Results

Diagnostic Study of Agroecological Practices for Adaptation to Climate Change, which compiles the main experiences and results of these adaptive practices at the national level.
