AGROALNEXT SOIL-DIVERS Project: Soil improvement through the introduction of legumes

  • Type Project
  • Scope Autonómico
  • Autonomous community Asturias, Principado de
  • Main source of financing NextGenerationEU
  • Project website Web del Proyecto
Description
Develop a soil improvement program by introducing legume crops that will improve soil structure and microbial biodiversity.
Results
After cultivating five varieties of broad beans, soil fertility was compared to a control sample. Soil fertility improved, especially with Habanita, which increased potassium and nitrate nitrogen while maintaining acceptable levels of phosphorus and magnesium. Yerry retained organic matter and total organic carbon well. Quijana stood out for its phosphorus content. The differences between varieties were statistically significant, allowing for the adaptation of agronomic management to specific nutritional objectives and the strategic use of each variety's potential to enrich the soil.
