AGROALNEXT Project: Strategies for the development of new cultivation processes focused on reducing water and nutrient inputs

  • Type Project
  • Scope Autonómico
  • Autonomous community Murcia, Región de
  • Main source of financing NextGenerationEU
  • Project website Web del Proyecto
Description
The project studies broccoli cultivars under reduced nitrogen fertilization and irrigation, evaluating their response to abiotic stresses such as salinity. It aims to optimize water and nutrient use, promoting more sustainable and efficient precision agriculture.
Results
Significant reduction (10%) in chemical fertilizers (N and S) and water compared to conventional practices. Validation of new bio/nanotechnological formulations (extracts and encapsulations) of foliar fertilizers demonstrating greater assimilation efficiency and reduced environmental impact (less leaching). Generation of molecular and physiological knowledge on the transport mechanisms of water (aquaporins) and nutrients in Brassicas, useful for transfer to industry and other crops.
