AGROALNEXT Project: Digital transformation of agricultural holdings, computerized platform for irrigation water management, and monitoring of crop status, calculation of water footprint and carbon balance in near real time, mitigation of climate change
- Type Project
- Scope Autonómico
- Autonomous community Murcia, Región de
- Main source of financing NextGenerationEU

Description
The project develops the Irriman digital platform, which is being implemented in irrigated areas of Murcia and Almería to manage irrigation sustainably using water indicators and remote sensing with drones. It promotes agricultural digitalization and improves the competitiveness and sustainability of farms.
Results
Water deficit thresholds have been established for the different phenological stages of early apricots. Water and nutrient savings of 30% have been achieved in horticultural crops such as melons and apricots, thanks to digitalization through real-time soil moisture monitoring. Digitalization has proven to be an essential tool for ensuring future water availability without compromising agricultural production at the irrigation community level.
