Description
TOMSMART is investigating how to develop molecular and digital tools that increase agricultural production and sustainability.
Contextual description
The applications derived from the project address issues related to sustainability, climate change, and innovation and economic growth. Regarding sustainability, the project will contribute to reducing environmental impact through the use of sustainable production practices that decrease water consumption and fertilizer use. With respect to climate change, it will promote sustainable food production, increased agricultural productivity, and the implementation of resilient farming practices.
Results
Tomatoes more resistant to water stress and nitrogen deficiency, maintaining their quality and productivity with less use of water and fertilizers.
