Description
NH3ControlFarm helps improve bird health and prevent acid rain.
Contextual description
Ammonia is a colorless gas with a characteristic pungent odor that can be found in varying concentrations on poultry farms as a result of the volatilization of excrement. Above 20 ppmv (parts per million), it has a negative impact on the health of birds, affecting their growth rate, immune system, and intestinal histomorphology. Furthermore, its release into the environment is known to cause acid rain, acting as a catalyst. Therefore, controlling ammonia concentration on farms is of great importance from a health, environmental, and economic perspective. Current techniques for measuring atmospheric ammonia on farms are either complex and expensive, or inexpensive but insufficient. This project aims to address this through NH3ControlFarm, a passive, colorimetric atmospheric ammonia sensor.
Results
Development of passive sensors and a mobile app to monitor ammonia on farms, reducing emissions and improving animal welfare with an accessible and scalable solution. Patent: P202331000 ""THREE-DIMENSIONAL POROUS MATRICES FOR THE DETECTION AND/OR DETERMINATION OF ANALYTES AND THEIR OBTAINING PROCEDURE.
