AGROALNEXT IMPRIMED Project: Biotechnology applied to obtaining printable polymers for biomedical applications from agri-food by-products from Navarre

  • Type Project
  • Scope Autonómico
  • Autonomous community Navarra, Comunidad Foral de
  • Main source of financing NextGenerationEU

Description
The project aims to produce biopolymers from agri-food by-products for high-value applications, especially in 3D printing in the biomedical sector.
Results
Biopolymers developed from agri-food byproducts (whey) through microbial fermentation, with optimized bioproduction achieved through the development of recombinant strains using gene-editing tools (in publication). Biocompatible and bioabsorbable resins for 3D printing derived from the developed biopolymers, enabling successful growth of cardiac tissue (in publication). Antimicrobial delivery systems derived from plant byproducts (cardoon and broccoli) integrated into the printable biomaterials. Multihead bioprinter prototypes and stereolithography for printing photocurable resins.
