Description
The BIOTRANS project investigates biostimulants and transpiration regulators that allow resistance to water stress.
Contextual description
Global warming and climate change limit access to water resources, posing a significant threat to agriculture. Water availability is a serious constraint on crop productivity. Drought can reduce crop yields by up to 50%, and strategies are needed to improve crop yields with limited water supplies, thereby mitigating and adapting agriculture to climate change. The challenge lies in implementing plant transpiration regulators and biostimulants in the agri-food sector. This will depend on efficacy and safety trials in the field, where we should have companies interested in their commercialization.
Results
Improved water use efficiency in tomatoes and grapevines under water deficit, using molecules more stable than natural ABA, with patents obtained.
