AGROALNEXT 0 EMISSIONS Project: Trials in dairy farms for emissions reduction

  • Type Project
  • Scope Autonómico
  • Autonomous community Asturias, Principado de
  • Main source of financing NextGenerationEU
  • Project website Web del Proyecto
Description
The challenge of the project is the implementation of strategies to optimize the management of soils, crops and animals that will reduce GHG emissions in dairy farms
Results
Replacing inorganic with organic fertilizers improves forage production and soil health. Localized application of slurry reduces ammonia (NH3) emissions. Legume cultivation increases forage productivity and soil health. Producing your own forage and reducing the purchase of feed and fertilizers contributes to a lower carbon footprint. Adjusting the protein content of the ration to production needs reduces nitrogen excretion into the environment. Increasing forage digestibility improves feed efficiency and decreases CH4 emissions. NH3 adsorbents in slurry reduce emissions.
