Grants for applied research projects in the beekeeping sector

Description

The call for subsidies for the implementation of applied research projects in the beekeeping sector and its products within the Beekeeping Sector Intervention of PEPAC is hereby announced ( Extract of the call in the Official State Gazette of 03/20/2024).

The Beekeeping Sectoral Intervention includes numerous types of possible interventions , among which the measure relating to collaboration with specialized organizations with a view to the implementation of research programs in the beekeeping and bee products sector stands out, which is considered a fundamental element to promote the innovation environment, within the framework of the general policy of science and technology and innovation (R&D&I).

The duration of the projects may be multiannual, up to three years, and must focus on one or more of the following thematic areas :

  • Research on varroosis and other bee diseases, based on the evolution of beekeeping pathologies in Spain, including the development and improvement of treatments for their management and control.
  • Research on colony collapse syndrome in Spain.
  • Develop, improve or adapt technology aimed at evaluating, monitoring, preventing and/or limiting the effects of predatory species, native or invasive, on bees.
  • Development and improvement of honey detection techniques for physical and chemical analysis and verification of honey requirements.
  • Study of production conditions to avoid competition with wild pollinators, such as adequate foraging loads and determining appropriate distances between apiaries.
  • Other objectives raised by the Spanish beekeeping scenario to address specific problems in the beekeeping sector or to improve the results of the operating account, increasing the competitiveness of producers.

The maximum amount of aid will not exceed the sum of 300,000 euros per eligible project and call for proposals in the case of multiannual projects lasting three years, 200,000 euros in the case of two-year projects, or 100,000 euros in the case of projects lasting one year.

Applications will be addressed to the Presidency of FEGA, and will be submitted electronically, through the electronic headquarters of the website of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food of the   03/21/2024 to 04/19/2024.
