Provisional unit amounts for livestock-related aid in the 2026 campaign

Publication date: 22/09/2026

Description

Section 2 of Chapter III of Title III of Royal Decree 1048/2022, of December 27, on the application, from 2023 onwards, of interventions in the form of direct payments and the establishment of common requirements within the framework of the Strategic Plan for the Common Agricultural Policy , and the regulation of the single application for the integrated management and control system, establishes a series of interventions in the form of direct payments linked to livestock farmers. The objective of this aid is to guarantee the economic viability of farms through their sustainability and competitiveness, thus reducing the risk of abandoning a productive activity that also plays an important role from an environmental perspective.

As a new measure for this 2026 campaign, stemming from the Middle East crisis which has led to increased fertilizer prices, the European Union has established the following flexibilities regarding advance payments through Regulation (EU) 2026/1768 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 14 July 2026. Firstly, the advance payment can be made before 16 October of this year, covering the period until 30 November, as always. Secondly , the advance payment can reach up to 75% of the total payment, instead of the 70% established under normal conditions.

The remaining balance can then be paid during the usual period, that is, between December 1 and June 30 of the calendar year following the application.

The Spanish Agricultural Guarantee Fund (FEGA) establishes the provisional unit amounts with which the advance payment is made, based on the information provided by the autonomous communities for each intervention, guaranteeing compliance with the indicative financial allocations established in Annex XXI of Royal Decree 1048/2022, of December 27.

The indicative financial allocations for the 2026 campaign are:

Annex XXI: Total financial allocation of livestock-related support

• Associated aid for extensive beef cattle farmers: €186,610,000.
• Associated aid for fattening calves on the birth farm: €12,390,000.
• Associated aid for the sustainable fattening of calves: €25,900,000.
• Associated aid for the sustainable production of cow's milk: €122,000,000.
• Associated aid for extensive and semi-extensive sheep and goat farmers for meat: €131,620,000.

• Associated aid for the sustainable production of sheep and goat milk: €44,680,000.
• Associated aid for extensive and semi-extensive sheep and goat farmers without pastures available to them and who graze areas of stubble, fallow land and horticultural waste: €20,000,000

Therefore, the provisional unit amounts for the advance payment are set at:

These provisional unit amounts may be revised when the first payment of the remaining balance is made, starting December 1st , which may reach up to 90% of the total aid amount. Subsequently, based on the new information submitted by the autonomous communities regarding the total number of animals determined to be eligible for aid in April of next year, the final unit amount will be established, which will allow for the second payment of the remaining balance of the aid to be made in full.
