AGRODIGI Operational Group: Optimization of soil fertilization through the development of a digital tool and web application with satellite images and data using precision agriculture strategies
- Type Operational group
- Status In progress
- Execution 2025 -2028
- Assigned Budget 150.000,00 €
- Scope Autonómico
- Autonomous community Aragón
- Main source of financing CAP 2023-2027
The project provides the agricultural sector with a digital tool to optimize fertilization in a precise, cost-effective, and sustainable way. By analyzing satellite imagery and data from each plot, the system identifies the crop's actual needs and generates maps with fertilization recommendations for specific areas.
It is expected that fertilizer use will be reduced by up to 20% without affecting yield, resulting in lower costs, greater efficiency, and a reduced environmental impact on soil and water, while also strengthening regulatory compliance. The main added value for farmers is applying only the necessary dose to each part of the farm, improving profit margins and competitiveness.
Through an intuitive web platform, you can access maps, recommendations, and real-time tracking, facilitating agile, data-driven decisions. Implementing this solution presents an opportunity to modernize management, increase profitability, and move toward a more sustainable production model aligned with current market demands.
The expected end result is the implementation of a comprehensive digital tool for the intelligent management of agricultural fertilization, based on the analysis of satellite imagery and georeferenced field data. The system will allow for highly accurate assessment of crop nutritional status, generate detailed maps by zone, and offer variable-rate fertilization recommendations tailored to each plot. It is anticipated that fertilizer use will be reduced by approximately 20% without affecting yield and will decrease the associated environmental impact, including soil and water pollution. The web platform will be intuitive and facilitate real-time monitoring, ensuring its practical adoption and replicability in other regions, thus contributing to more efficient, profitable, and sustainable agriculture.
- The project promotes the transition to precision agriculture by developing and validating a digital tool designed to optimize fertilization and improve environmental sustainability. It integrates satellite image analysis, georeferenced data, and agronomic modeling to reduce excessive fertilizer use, minimize soil and water pollution, and increase farm profitability.
- An API-based system will be developed to assess crop health in real time, combining harvest maps, plot boundaries, and images from different phenological stages. Using segmentation techniques, detailed maps will be generated to identify homogeneous zones and optimal sampling points, achieving nearly 95% accuracy in pilot fields. This data will be used to design variable-rate fertilization plans tailored to each zone, allowing for a reduction of approximately 20% in fertilizer use without yield loss and a decrease of up to 15% in associated pollution.
- The solution will be integrated into an intuitive web platform that will facilitate real-time monitoring and data-driven decision-making. The tool will be validated on real farms, including calculating its carbon footprint to measure its environmental impact.
- Training and dissemination activities will promote its adoption and replicability, consolidating a more efficient, profitable and sustainable agricultural model.
Development, validation, and implementation of a digital tool and web application based on satellite imagery and data analysis that generates customized fertilization plans for each farm and crop. The system optimizes variable-rate fertilizer application, promoting precision agriculture, improving production efficiency, reducing costs, and minimizing the environmental impact on farms.
