Context and Challenge: The freshwater resources of the SUDOE region are under increasing anthropogenic pressure, leading to water scarcity and quality problems, conflicts over use, and risks to natural environments. A paradigm shift is essential. Need for Adaptation: Adapting practices and organizations through the definition of concerted, multi-year management strategies will guarantee access to the water necessary for ecosystem life and the economic and social development of the territory.
To address this challenge, the TARGET project partners have identified a need and an opportunity for cooperation to integrate non-conventional waters into local water management.
The objective is to promote the development and implementation of a territorial planning strategy for the sustainable management of water and the prevention of crises arising from water scarcity. Strategies and Action Plans: This strategy will enable the development of action plans that integrate solutions for the use of non-conventional water sources, including the reuse of treated wastewater (REUT).
