Publication date: 09/05/2025

Description

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food published in the Official State Gazette (BOE) on the 7th the opening of the application process for grants totaling €46.5 million , intended for the preparation and execution of innovation projects of general interest by supra-regional operational groups of the European Innovation Partnership for Agricultural Productivity and Sustainability (AEI-Agri) . This is the largest budget allocation recorded to date for this type of aid.

These grants are part of the rural development component of the National Strategic Plan of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) and are financed 80% by funds from the European Union. The remaining 20% comes from the ministry's national budget.

The deadline for submitting applications will remain open until 2:00 p.m. on June 4 .

Each group applying for aid may receive up to a maximum of €600,000. Projects may be developed until May 1, 2029, and are typically carried out in two phases: the first until May 1, 2027, and the second until the final deadline.

Details of the call

Groups of up to eight entities may participate, including one stakeholder from the agri-food or forestry sector, and coordinated by a non-profit organization. Depending on the needs of the project, other public and private entities may join.

Projects must be inter-territorial in scope and aligned with one of the CAP objectives, although no specific themes have been defined. The aim is to promote everything from technical innovations in agriculture or the environment to proposals that foster rural entrepreneurship, local development, or gender equality.

The consortium must be led by a private, non-profit entity. Universities and regional public bodies may collaborate through subcontracting, but they cannot directly manage the grants as the main beneficiaries.

Furthermore, project results must be published on the European platform "EU Farmbook," a tool funded by the European Commission under the Horizon Europe program.
