BIODRON Operational Group: Implementation of precision agriculture techniques in the detection of biological deficiencies in the soil and the application of inputs

  • Type Operational group
  • Status In progress
  • Execution 2024 -2027
  • Assigned Budget 150.000,00 €
  • Scope Autonómico
  • Autonomous community Aragón
Abstract
  1. Optimize the sowing and fertilization of extensive crops by linking the management of intra-plot variability with the biological properties of the soil.
  2. Evaluate different microorganism-based products as a solution to the detected imbalances.
  3. Evaluate biological deficiencies or imbalances and their evolution in soils using multispectral satellite images or images taken by unmanned aerial vehicles.
  4. Characterize unmanned aerial equipment used for the application of products in extensive crops.
  5. Evaluate the value of using drones for the application of the evaluated products.
Description

This project, through the implementation of precision agriculture technology, will optimize the efficiency of input application in selected plots. Efficient application will be associated with cost reduction and environmental and sustainability benefits.

At the social level, by promoting the training of farmers and advisors in these techniques, we will contribute to improving the agri-food chain, activating the mechanisms for knowledge exchange among all the links involved.

Description of activities
  • Optimize the sowing and fertilization of extensive crops by linking the management of intra-plot variability with the biological properties of the soil.
  • Evaluate different microorganism-based products as a solution to the detected imbalances.
  • Evaluate biological deficiencies or imbalances and their evolution in soils using multispectral satellite images or images taken by unmanned aerial vehicles.
  • Characterize unmanned aerial equipment used for the application of products in extensive crops.
  • Evaluate the value of using drones for the application of the evaluated products.
Objectives
  • Integrate precision agriculture techniques into the characterization of biological fertility and its variability in agricultural plots.
  • Evaluation of commercial products under specific soil and climate conditions that allows for solutions to biological imbalances detected in cereal plots.
  • Study and monitoring of anomalous stands through vegetation indices.
  • Use of drones as a precision agriculture technique of interest for controlling the problems described.
