This project aims to demonstrate the need to adapt a regulatory framework in which the use of drones must no longer be considered as an aerial application but must become part of a category different from that of aerial applications, which will benefit the production sector since in this way it will facilitate the placing on the market of a useful and safe technology that can be used by farmers and foresters.
The main objective of the GO DRONSafe project is to promote the use of unmanned aerial vehicles as a safe tool for applying phytosanitary products, seeking to advance their regulatory framework and establishing real-life usage scenarios to promote their possible categorization as different from aerial treatment.
The results of the project will facilitate the use of drones in the application of phytosanitary products, providing producers with a useful and environmentally friendly tool. In addition, a demonstration in real conditions will be sought that the proposed application solutions constitute an economic improvement for the sector, allowing precise applications that avoid overtreatment and contribute to the economic efficiency and competitiveness of the farms that adopt them.
The results of this project will have a social benefit, as it will increase the alternatives for applying phytosanitary products with a new tool such as the drone and will reduce the number of requests for aerial treatments, complying with the objectives of the Sustainable Use Directive regarding the prohibition of aerial treatments.
