Description

This project aims to demonstrate the need to adapt a regulatory framework, in which the use of drones must cease to be considered an aerial application and become part of a category distinct from that of aerial applications, which will benefit the production sector since this will facilitate the launching of a useful and safe technology that can be used by farmers and foresters.

Objectives

The GO DRONSafe project's main objective is to promote the use of unmanned aerial vehicles as a safe tool for applying phytosanitary products, seeking to advance their regulatory framework and establishing real-life usage scenarios to promote their possible categorization as distinct from aerial treatment.

Results

The project's results will facilitate the use of drones in the application of phytosanitary products, providing producers with a useful and environmentally friendly tool.

Furthermore, real-world demonstrations will be sought that the proposed application solutions represent an economic improvement for the sector, enabling targeted applications that avoid overtreatment and contribute to the economic efficiency and competitiveness of the farms that adopt them.

The results of this project will be of social benefit, as they will increase the alternatives for applying phytosanitary products with a new tool such as the drone, and will reduce the number of requests for aerial treatments, thus complying with the objectives of the Sustainable Use Directive regarding the prohibition of aerial treatments.
